Deepak Tunuguntla (U. Twente) - Modelling granular flows in inclined channels

Understanding and predicting the dynamics of granular materials is of utmost importance in both industrial and geophysical applications. Thereby, in this seminar, I will present our recent modelling work concerning granular mixtures flowing over inclined channels. To begin with, the presentation will illustrate the application of shallow granular theory to analyse large scale granular flows such as avalanches and landslides. And if time permits, I will also showcase our recent work on modelling particle segregation which is an age-old phenomenon in granular flows. Please note, this work is done in collaboration with Anthony Thornton and Thomas Weinhart at the Multi-Scale Mechanics group in the University of Twente.
